Umme Sulaim Razi. ||| A unique story of Jannaty Lady Sahaba

Hadrat Anas bin Malik Razi: Narrated by the Prophet said, I entered into Paradise in the dream. Suddenly someone heard the movement of movement. I asked the angels, 'Who is he? They said, he is Rumaija bint Milhan, Anas Ibn Malik's mother. - Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2456; Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 11955; Tawqat ibn Saad 8/429; Musnad Tawlisi, Hadith: 1715

The Prophet  has said in a tradition related to Hazrat Jabir Razi : I dreamed that I had entered Paradise.Suddenly I saw my wife in front of Abu talahara rumaicha Razi . - Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3679; Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 15002; Sahih Ibn Habiban, Hadith: 7084; Sunan Nasai Kubra, Hadith: 8124

Hazrat Rumaihaa Binte Milhan Ansariya
Razi : The nickname is Umme Sulaim Razi. He is more famous in this name.

She had many qualities and characteristics. She is also one of the leading companions of Islam. At first he married Malik bin Nur. In that house Anas
Razi. Was born. He became embroiled in accepting Islam and migrated to Syria, and Malik bin Nur left his home there and died there. Later, he was married to Abu Talha.
Umme Sulaim Razi. second marriage (with Abu Talha Razi)  Anas Razi narrated about, before embracing Islam, Abu Talhah Umm Sulaim proposed marriage. Um Sulaim Razi replied in reply: Do you know that the god you worship is from the land? (Made of clay, tree and straw) He said, yes. Umme Sulaim Razi. said, do not you shy to worship the trees? I have accepted Islam. If you follow my religion, then I will marry you. It is my seal to accept your Islam. I do not want any more seal except He said, okay. I think. Then he came back and said, I am also following your religion. He became Muslim, and he married Um Sulaim. - Sunan Nasai, Hadith: 3340; Abdur Razzaq in Musnaf, Hadith: 10417

Anas Razi when was ten years old, his mother Hazrat She Razi with him, the Prophet  court came and said, 'O Allah's Apostle! This is my son Anas, who will do your work today. Since then Anas Razi: Regularly performing the service of the Prophet . Hazrat Anas Razi said, "Allah, give me good exchange for my mother." She cherished me well.

Anas Razi. narrated that the Prophet  She Razi. and took some Ansari women fought in the war and the water used to serve others.

In the battle of Hunain, he proceeded towards the battle with his liver. Abu Talha Razi: O Allah's Messenger! Umme Sulaim Razi., he is lazy! Umme Sulaim said, "If a polytheist tries to approach me, I will take out his intestines with it."

In the Hadith, history and biographies, many stories of heroism, courage, goodness, wisdom and intelligence are described. However, it is very difficult to find his precedence in the pages of history that he has set a unique example of patience and intelligence during the mushyat.

Imam Bukhari Rah. In his famous Hadith book Saheeh Bukhari, he has titled this event -
'Who does not express his feelings during the mushyat'. His story is such that after the marriage of Umme Sulaim Razi. with Hadrat Abu Talha Razi., a son was born in a beautiful footsteps. His name was Umair. There was also a small bird with whom the Prophet  , playing with him, sometimes used to joke with the child and said, 'O Umair! What is your bulabuli news! Abu Talha Razi: He loved him so much. One day the boy became ill. Abu Talha Razi: He became very worried about this. He even became unstable. His practice was, he is the Messenger of Allah  every morning and evening Used to come to the court. One afternoon he left the house. In the meantime, his sick son died. Umme Sulaim Razi: On death, after bathing, the boy took a bath, put the shroud and gave perfume. Covering the clothes well and laying nicely on one corner of the house. Hadrat Anas Razi: Who sent Hadrat Abu Talha Razi. and sent him and told him that Abu Talha should not tell the news of the son's death.

Abu Talha Razi: That day fasting. Umme Sulaim Razi: She made a dough for him. Abu Talha Razi. asked the child to return home. Umme Sulaim said, she is now cooler than before. Immediately the tired husband did not tell the child's deadline. The people of the house were also forbidden. Someone other than him told him not to tell the news. Hadrat Abu Talha Razi: After hearing him, he thought that the boy was asleep and sleeping safely. So he also ate nights in the mind and took a rest. Even in the morning, he also had a bath.

Hadrat Abu Talha Razi: Before leaving, Umme Sulaim agreed to say, tell him, if someone keeps somebody else's money and wants to return it to him, then he has the right to keep him away without giving him back? Abu Talha Razi said, "No, he has no right." Hadrat Umme Sulaim Razi: Now say calmly, be patient with your son. Allah had kept him with us, and then he withdrew. Abu Talha Razi: It became angry and complained of the behavior of the night and accused the Prophet  for the wife's name. The Prophet  became enthralled by the incident and said, 'Allah bless you this night.' Then Allah gave them another son Abdullah. Abdullah ibn Abu Talha Razi: Who later Allah Almighty gave seven sons, each of whom became a scholar of the Quran. - Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1301; Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 1208; Fath al Bari 3/01; Tawakat ibn Saad 8 / 431-3 Allama Ibn Hazar Aaskalani
Allama Ibn Hazar Aaskalani Rah. Many of these hadith have mentioned fawwad. At first she was Umme Sulaim Razi: Characteristics and greatness have shown that through this incident, she has introduced her wisdom, intelligence, tolerance and good qualities.

At first, without giving any news of the death of hier son, the husband gave her a chance to sleep at night. Examples of comfort to a grieving husband as well as with the return of the material returned to the child's death, she also taught to accept the judgment of Allah satisfactorily. When Allah knew the truth about her purpose and purpose, she increased her dignity and he received the blessings of the blessings of the Messenger of Allah   .

Learning in this regard is to accept the judgment of Allah satisfied. Be patient with danger and expect good exchange with Allah. Use ambiguous sentences for the needs. Take the decoration for the husband's satisfaction etc.

Hayaa’ is a part of faith ||| Hayaa’ in what we do

Abu Hurairah (Raji.) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Faith or belief consists of more than sixty branches or parts, and Hayaa’ is a part of faith”.

There is no true English definition of the word ‘Hayaa’’ but the closest one can get to it is shame, modesty, and bashfulness. Hayaa’ is an essential characteristic of a Muslim; it must be obtained in order to attain faith as they come together as a pair:

Abdullah ibn Umar (Raji.) narrated that: The Prophet  said: “Indeed Hayaa’ and Iman are companions. When one of them is lifted, the other leaves as well.”

Hayaa’ in what we do

The highest amount of Hayaa’ is when we refrain from committing any sin out of humiliation and guilt in front of Allah. One that has such levels of Iman and Ihsan will, out of worship and fear for Allah (glory and exalted be He), abandon all sins whether committed in public or in private. They simply won’t be able to bring themselves to commit sin, and if they do, they will sincerely regret it. This is the level that we should all try to attain.
One that has Hayaa’ in front of people will avoid sinning in public and boasting of his sins to people. But this Hayaa’ will only provide external righteousness; to obtain internal righteousness, one must also feel regret when sinning, even and especially in private, and try to abandon all Haram out of shame in front of Allah.
In a Hadith narrated by Umar ibn Al Khattab(Raji.):
Prophet Muhammad  said: “Ihsan is to worship Allah as though you are seeing Him, and while you see Him not, yet truly He sees you.”

When one loses Hayaa’, they then lose Iman and they tumble into destruction, losing all sense of shame. Nothing will prevent them from adopting wicked and evil ways due to the absence of any regret or guilt.
Abu Masood Al-Ansari (Raji.) narrated that :
the Prophet ﷺ  said: “Among the words people obtained from the first prophecy are: ‘If you feel no shame, then do as you wish’” – which is exactly what is happening and so this decline in Hayaa’ has resulted in the society becoming an ugly place to live in.
However, if one can obtain Hayaa’, and improve upon it, then one will taste the sweetness of faith and countless blessings. Their actions will be based upon the teachings of Islam and the way they will go about their lives will be an example for all. Insha’Allah, we should all try to change ourselves and increase our Hayaa’ by focusing on the above mentioned aspects as well as the many others that we encounter in our lives.

Anas bin Malik
(Raji.) reported that :
the Prophet  said: “When lewdness is a part of anything, it becomes defective; and when Hayaa’ is a part of anything, it becomes beautiful.”

Hayaa’ is a part of faith ||| Hayaa’ in the places we go

Hayaa’ in the places we go

To have Hayaa’ means to dislike everything that is wrong according to Islam, so even if we may not be committing wrong ourselves, if there is immorality around us, we should feel the repugnance in our hearts when around such places.

We are much more exposed to these environments in the West, compared to most of the Muslim world, with places such as bars, pubs, nightclubs and beaches.

It was narrated that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (Raji.) said: The Prophet  said: “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not sit at a table where wine is being drunk.” [ Narrated by Ahmad, 126; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, 7/6.]

Hayaa’ is a part of faith ||| Hayaa’ in the friends we choose

Abu Hurairah (Raji.) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Faith or belief consists of more than sixty branches or parts, and Hayaa’ is a part of faith”.

There is no true English definition of the word ‘Hayaa’’ but the closest one can get to it is shamemodesty, and bashfulnessHayaa’ is an essential characteristic of a Muslim; it must be obtained in order to attain faith as they come together as a pair:

Abdullah ibn Umar (Raji.) narrated that

the Prophet said:
“Indeed Hayaa’ and Iman are companions. When one of them is lifted, the other leaves as well.”

Hayaa’ in the friends we choose

It makes sense that a person with Hayaa’ and is a God-fearing moral human will choose to be around people of good faith and character as it is with these people they will feel most at peace. Companions that behave in a way that is improper will undoubtedly bring about discomfort to this person and so they will distance themselves from such a group.

Similarly, one that has Hayaa’ will not be able to feel at ease around those who are Non-Mahram for them because it is wrong to be friendly with the opposite gender and so a sign of modesty is having nothing more than a professional and polite relationship with all those who are Non-Mahram to us.

Friends can also shape the way we develop as Muslims as they will be the ones that we spend a lot of our time with, If they have good habits, we will also pick up good habits, but if they have bad habits, we will also pick up those bad habits. And so it is imperative we choose our friends wisely.
The Prophet Muhammad  said: “Man is influenced by the faith of his friends. Therefore, be careful of whom you associate with.”

Therefore one needs to ask him/herself if his/her friends reflect qualities of the Sahabah and thus of Hayaa’: piety, love, mercy, honesty, patience and decency.

Hayaa’ is a part of faith ||| Hayaa’ in how we treat others

Abu Hurairah (Raji.) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Faith or belief consists of more than sixty branches or parts, and Hayaa’ is a part of faith”.

There is no true English definition of the word ‘Hayaa’’ but the closest one can get to it is shame, modesty, and bashfulness. Hayaa’ is an essential characteristic of a Muslim; it must be obtained in order to attain faith as they come together as a pair:
Abdullah ibn Umar (Raji.) narrated that the Prophet said:
“Indeed Hayaa’ and Iman are companions. When one of them is lifted, the other leaves as well.”
Hayaa’ in how we treat others
Sometimes we can get angry, become rude, and even be judgmental. Our attitude and way of speaking is a fundamental part of Hayaa’ because the way in which we communicate and treat people is a sign of the kind of person we are and thus the level of Hayaa’ we have. It is not difficult to understand that a good person would treat others with utmost respect at all times, unless in exceptional situations, and be well-mannered and polite. Yet, how many times have we suffered from regret because of how we spoke to someone? It is time we change our manner and emulate the Prophet  who was always a kind and gentle man. It is through this change that the society around may also have the potential to transform.
In Sahih Muslim, it is reported that our beloved Prophet  said:
“Do not think little of any good deed, even if it is just greeting your brother with a cheerful countenance.”
Further than this would be how we treat others. There are two extremes: not caring about anyone at all and caring so much that you ignore yourself. Neither of these is correct as there needs to be a balance. We should treat others well and help them wherever and whenever we can but not at the expense of our own lives and responsibilities.

As one can see, Hayaa’ is not only about ourselves but also about our interactions with those around us. If we cannot treat others well, then we have a grave defect in our Hayaa’ that enables us to adopt malicious characteristics which are good neither for enriching our souls nor for gaining Allah’s pleasure.

Hayaa’ is a part of faith ||| Hayaa’ in what we say

Abu Hurairah (Raji.) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Faith or belief consists of more than sixty branches or parts, and Hayaa’ is a part of faith”.

There is no true English definition of the word ‘Hayaa’’ but the closest one can get to it is shamemodesty, and bashfulnessHayaa’ is an essential characteristic of a Muslim; it must be obtained in order to attain faith as they come together as a pair:

Abdullah ibn Umar (Raji.) narrated that the Prophet  said:
“Indeed Hayaa’ and Iman are companions. When one of them is lifted, the other leaves as well.”

Hayaa’ in what we say

I have seen a lack of Hayaa’ primarily when we joke around with friends as we tend to feel most comfortable and free at this time and so lose a sense of modesty. We can joke about indecent things, mostly regarding the opposite gender in some way or another, and although fuelled by the environment and media that are around us, we become a product of our society by spreading lewd talk amongst society.

Swearing can also form a part of our conversations. It is self-explanatory why swearing is indecent and thus contradictory to having Hayaa’. Gossiping is very similar; for some reason, we humans love to gossip, even if it is with no ill intent to defame anyone. We tend to always discuss other people and what is going on in their lives with such curiosity. This is a dangerous practice and can quickly fall into backbiting, so it is best to stay away from it. If a person had a high level of shame and modesty, they would not gossip about other people and so it should not be something we as Muslims do.

Moreover, Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri (Raji.) narrated that Prophet Muhammad  said:
“When man wakes up in the morning each day, all parts of the body warn the tongue saying, ‘Fear Allah as regards to us for we are at your mercy; if you are upright, we will be upright and if you are crooked, we become crooked”
(At-Tirmidhi)

This is why it is important to think before you say anything and consider whether it would be appropriate and thus, slowly remove the habit of speaking about such things.

Hayaa’ is a part of faith ||| Hayaa’ in what we watch

Abu Hurairah (Raji.) narrated that the Prophet  said:

“Faith or belief consists of more than sixty branches or parts, and Hayaa’ is a part of faith”.

There is no true English definition of the word ‘Hayaa’’ but the closest one can get to it is shame, modesty, and bashfulness. Hayaa’ is an essential characteristic of a Muslim; it must be obtained in order to attain faith as they come together as a pair:

Abdullah ibn Umar (Raji.) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Indeed Hayaa’ and Iman are companions. When one of them is lifted, the other leaves as well.”

Ibn Al-Qayyim is reported to have said that the moral character of a person is determined by how much Hayaa’ his heart possesses. Clearly, we find that the greater the humility and shame is of a person, the further they will stay away from sins and the better-mannered the individual will be.

In the world around us we can see the rapid deterioration of Hayaa’ amongst Muslims and non-Muslims which is having an adverse effect on the next generation as many previous indecent practices have now become the norm. This snowball effect of losing more and more Hayaa’ as the generations go past is a terrifying prospect, especially because personally, I already feel sickened at the state of people. Who knows what kind of world my children and their children will abide in?

There is much information available on Hayaa’ and so what I want to explore are the aspects of Hayaa’ that we sometimes forget about. When you ask people what Hayaa’ means, they normally link it to the female gender and what a person wears, but there are many more aspects of Hayaa’ that we either fail to realize or fail to implement. I’m going to cover 6 different aspects of Hayaa’ which I feel encompass the overall gist of what Hayaa’ should be. Insha’Allah, the following advice is as much for me as it is for everyone else:

Hayaa’ in what we watch

Television has become a part of the majority of our lives and through this medium we are exposed to anything and everything. There is so much filth on television ranging from nudity and obscenity to subtle indecency through sitcoms and films. Watching such material slowly erodes our sense of morality and shame, so we need to be very careful about what we watch. One of the most shameless aspects of television is the half-naked men and women – be it in films, programmes or even in adverts. We need to lower our gaze; even better, we should avoid anything in which we know obscenity would be present, for that would be the highest Hayaa’. Even watching a kiss is wrong despite it seeming so trivial these days. We should not expose our eyes to such things because of the effects they can have.

“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze, and protect their private parts. That is purer for them. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what they do. And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and protect their private parts…and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband’s fathers, their sons, their husband’s sons, their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their women…” [Qur’an 24:30-31]
Another aspect is the freeness in portraying immoral practices such as multiple physical partners or even joking about or discussing intimacy and sexual organs – this is rampant in nearly everything that is currently shown on TV, but because we have become so used to it, we don’t realize it is there and thus do not feel it wrong to be watching something we regard as harmless. But if we open our minds, we will see the indecent content. One with Hayaa’ would abstain from watching such programmes as they would be troubled and their hearts would be filled with disgust even hearing such things.

Similarly, we should be careful about what we listen to, so when others around us are discussing indecent matters, we should stay away and feel uncomfortable listening to any crude material.

Islam – The Perfect Code of Life

HayaaIslam is the perfect code of life. It provides complete guidance in all spheres of life and teaches man how to conduct and how to fulfil his worldly and deeni needs. Islam advocates respecting human rights and promotes sublime conduct when interacting with the creation. In aspects of honesty, trustworthiness, kindness to parents, respect to elders, and decency in manner, speech and dressing, Islam is second to none. From among the core values that Islam encourages one to adopt is the quality of hayaa (shame and respect).
In essence, hayaa (shame and respect) is the stepping stone to acquiring the true morals, values and ethics of Islam. After examining the various laws and injunctions of Islam, whether relating to the domestic, social or economic aspects of one’s life, one will reach the conclusion that the element of hayaa (shame and respect) forms an integral part of all practices.
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has said:
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم : لكل دين خلق وخلق الإسلام الحياء (موطا إمام مالك رقم 1610)
Every religion has a distinguishing characteristic, and the distinguishing characteristic of Islam is hayaa (shame and respect).
In a humble attempt to promote hayaa, this series in future will be dedicated to this topic. It is hoped that, Insha Allah, it will make us more conscious of the various aspects of shame and modesty. May Allah Ta‘ala enable us to truly adopt hayaa in every facet of our lives. Aameen.

Hayaa in Dressing

Hayaa
The mubaarak lifestyle of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was an embodiment of hayaa (shame and modesty). From his ‘ibaadat to his eating, sleeping, interacting and even attending the call of nature, every action portrayed the highest levels of shame and modesty. In every dimension of his mubaarak life, he ensured that the desired degree of hayaa was never compromised. On one occasion Hazrat Asmaa (radhiyallahu ‘anha), the respected sister of Hazrat ‘Aaisha (radhiyallahu ‘anha), entered the home wearing a thin garment. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) disapproved of this type of clothing for the women of his Ummah and immediately corrected her. He explained to her that the entire body of a woman should be covered in a manner that together with the cloth being non-transparent, even the shape of the body should not be discernible. (Sunan Abi Dawood #4106)
This lesson of hayaa, taught with respect by the Master (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), was so deeply entrenched in the heart of Hazrat Asmaa (radhiyallahu ‘anha) that it remained with her till the end of her life. Hence, it is reported that when she reached old age, her beloved son Hazrat Munzir bin Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), after returning from Iraq, sent her a cloth as a gift which was of very fine and superior quality. She had lost her sight, and so held the fabric in her hand feeling it carefully. Then with disappointment she said: “Return the gift to him.” When the cloth was returned to Munzir (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), he was hurt at this. He came to Hazrat Asmaa (radhiyallahu ‘anha) and said to her: “O my mother, the cloth is not transparent! (Hence, it is fine for you to wear).” Hazrat Asmaa (radhiyallahu ‘anha) replied: “Even though it is not transparent, however due to it being tight, it will still reveal the shape of the body.” He thereafter bought for her common garments made in Marw and Quhistaan. She accepted them saying, “It is these types of garments that you should give me to wear.” (Attabaqaatul Kubra libni Sa’d, pg. 199)
One can well imagine what will be the response of our beloved Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) if they were to witness the tight fitting and body revealing clothing worn by the Muslim women of today.
