أمانتو بيلاهي

amantu billahi 

وا مالايكاتيهي

wa mala'ikatihi

و كوتوبيهي

wa kutubihi 

 و روسوليهي

wa rusulihi 

 و اليوم الأخيري

wa al-yaum al-akhiri

وا القادري خريحي وشريحي مين الله

wa al-qadri khayrihi wa sharrihi min Allah

وا الباسي بعد الموت،

wa al-ba'si ba'd al-maut, 

( لا إلها إلا الله la ilaha illa Allah )

Faith is belief in Allah and the Messengers

The angels and the Final Day, and the holy scriptures

And to believe in destiny

That good and bad both come from Him

And the Resurrection; there is no god but Allah.

La ilaha illa Allah (x3), Muhammad Rasulullah

Allah is the creator of heaven and of earth

Nothing may compare with Him, He is the One alone

The prophets, best of humankind

Sent to all nations and all tribes

Last of all Muhammad, mercy to the worlds.

Formed of light and beauty, the angels of the Lord

To praise Allah, to help mankind,

Jibril brings the word.

The scriptures, all by Allah sent,

Torah, Psalms and Gospel then

The source of perfect guidance, the Glorious Quran.

The reckoning, the Final Day, when all will see their works

Remade in soul and body to stand before the Lord

With patience bearing every grief

With thankfulness for all blessings

We are content with destiny, the Will of Allah.

Faith is belief in Allah and the Messengers

The angels and the Final Day, and the holy scriptures

And to believe in destiny

That good and bad both come from Him

And the Resurrection; there is no god but Allah.

Belief in Allah: A Muslim believes in One Allah, Supreme and Eternal, Infinite and Mighty, Merciful and Compassionate, Creator and Provider. Allah has no father nor mother, no sons nor daughters. He has not fathered anyone nor was He fathered. None equal to Him. He is Allah of all mankind, not of a special tribe or race.

Belief in His Angels: A Muslim believes in the angels of Allah. They are purely spiritual and splendid beings created by Allah. They require no food or drink or sleep. They have no physical desires or material needs. Angels spend their time in the service of Allah. Each charged with a certain duty. Angels cannot be seen by the naked eyes. Knowledge and truth are not entirely confined to sensory knowledge or sensory perception alone.

Belief in His Messengers: A Muslim believes in all the Messengers and Prophets of Allah without any discrimination. All messengers were mortals, human beings, endowed with Divine revelations and appointed by Allah to teach mankind. The Holy Quran mentions the names of 25 messengers and prophets and states that there are others. These include Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad. Their message is the same and it is Islam and it came from One and the Same Source; Allah, and it is to submit to His will and to obey his law, i.e., to become a Muslim.

Belief in His revealed Books: A Muslim believes in all scriptures and revelations of Allah, as they were complete and in their original versions. Revelations were given to guide the people to the right path of Allah. Today the Quran is the only authentic and complete book of Allah. Muslims till today memorize the Quran word by word as a whole or in part. God who revealed the Quran is protecting it from being lost, corrupted, or concealed.

Belief in the Last Day: A Muslim believes in the day of Judgment. This world as we know it will come to an end and the dead will rise to stand for their final and fair trial. Everything we do, say, make, intend and think are accounted for and kept in accurate records. They are brought up on the Day of Resurrection. People with good records will be generously rewarded and warmly welcomed to Allah’s Heaven. People with bad records will be fairly punished and cast into Hell. The real nature of Heaven and Hell are known to Allah only, but they are described by Allah in man’s familiar terms in the Quran. The time of the Day of Judgment is only known to Allah and Allah alone.

Belief in Divine Destiny: A Muslim believes in “Qadaa” and “Qadar”. “Qadaa” and “Qadar” means the Timeless Knowledge of Allah and His power to plan and execute His plans. Allah is not indifferent to this world nor is He neutral to it. Allah is Wise, Just and Loving and whatever He does must have a good motive, although we may fail sometimes to understand it fully. We should have strong faith in Allah and accept whatever He does because our knowledge is limited and our thinking is based on individual consideration, whereas His knowledge is limitless and He plans on a universal basis. Man should think, plan, and make sound choices, but if things do not happen the way he wants, he should not lose faith and surrender himself to mental strains or shattering worries.

أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ وَ لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، رَبِّ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ مَا فِي هَذَا الْيَومِ وَخَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَهُ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِي هَذَا الْيَومِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهُ، رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ، وَسُوءِ الكِبَرِ، رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ فِي النَّارِ وَعَذَابٍ فِي الْقَبْرِ

اَللَّهُمَّ فاطِـرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأرْضِ عالِـمَ الغَـيْبِ وَالشّـهادَةِ رَبَّ كـلِّ شَـيءٍ وَمَليـكَه أَعـوذُ بِكَ مِن شَـرِّ نَفْسـي وَ شَـرِّ الشَّيْـطانِ – وَشِـرْكِه أَوْ أَقْتَـرِفَ عَلـى نَفْسـي ذَنْبًا أَوْ أَجُـرَّهُ إِلـى مُسْـلِم

اَللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ، اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَايَ وَأَهْلِي، وَمَالِي، اَللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي، اَللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ، وَمِنْ خَلْفِي، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي، وَعَنْ شِمَالِي، وَمِنْ فَوْقِي، وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي

اَللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا، وَبِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا، وَبِكَ نَحْيَا، وَبِكَ نَمُـوْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ النُّشُورُ

I told you : I’m in pain –

You said : ‘…Do not despair of the mercy of Allah…’ (39:53)

You said : ‘…So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them…’ (3:159)

Helping Others

In Islam, 
we learn that it’s very important to give help to others, especially if they are poor or needy. Whatever their colour or religion, we have to help them. When you help others, it’s also a way to show you are thankful to Allah for everything He has given you, like a healthy body, a family, food and shelter. You need to remember that you would not have anything if Allah didn’t give it to you.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) always used to remind people to give in charity. Some of the early Muslims would give away so much that they would forget to keep some food for themselves! Here are just some of the Prophet’s sayings about charity:

'If any Muslim plants something or sows seed from which a man, a bird or an animal eats, it counts as a charity for him.'
[sahih al-Bukhari, Muslim]

'Anyone who looks after and works for a widow and a poor person is like a warrior fighting for Allah’s cause, or like a person who fasts during the day and prays all night.'
[sahih al-Bukhari]

'Each person’s every joint must perform a charity every day the Sun comes up: to act justly between two people is a charity; to help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto it is a charity: a good word is a charity; every step you take to prayers is a charity and removing a harmful thing from the road is a charity.'
[sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim]

'Do not be lazy or careless about giving alms and charity till your last breath.'
[sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim]

'Spend in charity and do not keep count for then Allah will also keep count in giving you what you need.'
[sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim]

In the Qur’an Allah tells us how pleased He is with us when we give in charity: 'The likeness of those who spend for Allah’s sake is as the likeness of a grain of corn, it grows seven ears; every single ear has a hundred grains, and Allah multiplies (increases the reward of) for whom He wills, and Allah is sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knowing).”
[surah al-Baqarah, 2:261]

Allah will also punish people who are greedy and stingy, who hate to give to others.

Reward for Helping Others

Ibn Abbas narrated, Once I was in a state of itikaaf in the Prophet's Mosque (Medina). A certain person came to me and sat down. I said to him, 'O so and so, you look sad'. He said, 'Yes of course, o fraternal brother of the Prophet. So-and-so has his due on me, and by the one who lies in eternal peace in the grave (i.e. Prophet Muhammad), I am not able to pay the debt' I said, 'Should I not talk to him about your debt?' He said, 'You can do so if you like' There upon I put my shoes on and went out of the mosque. The person asked him, 'Have you forgotten the state you were in (i.e. itikaaf)?' I replied, 'Not at all, but I have heard rom the one who lies in eternal peace in the grave [saying this his eyes became filled with tears], said:

"One who moves to fulfill any need of his brother, and makes effort for it, will find it better than itikaaf of ten years; and one who performs itikaaf for one day for the pleasure of Allah, he will create a distance of three ditches between him and the hell - and each ditch has a width which lies between East and West, or between the heaven and earth."
