Islamic Book ||| Sunan Ibne Majah

Biography

Ibn Mājah was born in Qazwin, the modern-day Iranian province of Qazvin, in 824 CE/209 AH to a family who were clients (mawla) of the Rabīʻah tribe. Mājah was the nickname of his father, and not that of his grandfather nor was it his mother's name, contrary to those claiming this. The hāʼ at the end is un-voweled whether in stopping upon its pronunciation or continuing because it a non-Arabic name.

He left his hometown to travel the Islamic world visiting Iraq, Makkah, the Levant and Egypt. He studied under Ibn Abi Shaybah (through whom came over a quarter of al-Sunan), Muḥammad ibn ʻAbdillāh ibn Numayr, Jubārah ibn al-Mughallis, Ibrāhīm ibn al-Mundhir al-Ḥizāmī, ʻAbdullāh ibn Muʻāwiyah, Hishām ibn ʻAmmār, Muḥammad ibn Rumḥ, Dāwūd ibn Rashīd and others from their era. Abū Yaʻlā al-Khalīlī praised Ibn Mājah as "reliable (thiqah), prominent, agreed upon, a religious authority, possessing knowledge and the capability to memorize."

According to al-Dhahabī, Ibn Mājah died on approximately February 19, 887 CE/with eight days remaining of the month of Ramadan, 273 AH, or, according to al-Kattānī, in either 887/273 or 889/275. He died in Qazwin.

What he compiled/did Al-Dhahabī mentioned the following of Ibn Mājah's works:
*Sunan Ibn Mājah: one of the six canonical collections of hadith
*Kitāb al-Tafsīr: a book of Qur'an exegesis
*Kitāb al-Tārīkh: a book of history or, more likely, a listing of hadith transmitters
The Sunan

Main article: Sunan ibn Majah

The Sunan consists of 1,500 chapters and about 4,000 hadith. Upon completing it, he read it to Abu Zur’a al-Razi, a hadith authority of his time, who commented, "I think that were people to get their hands on this, the other collections, or most of them, would be rendered obsolete."

Islamic Book ||| Jami At-Tirmidhi

Biography

Jami' at-Tirmidhi (Arabic: جامع الترمذي‎‎, Jāmi‘ at-Tirmidhī), also known as Sunan at-Tirmidhi (Arabic: سُـنَن الترمذي‎‎, Sunan at-Tirmidhī), is one of the Kutub al-Sittah (six major hadith collections). It was collected by Abu ʿIsa Muhammad ibn ʿIsa at-Tirmidhi. He began compiling it after the year 250 A.H. (A.D. 864/5) and completed it on the 10 Dhu-al-Hijjah 270 A.H. (A.D. 884, June 9). It contains 3,956 Ahadith, and has been divided into fifty chapters. It is also classified as a Sunan, which implies that the book has been chapterised according to legal chapters, such as Purification, Prayer, Poor-due and Fasting, narrated on the authority of Islamic prophet Muhammad ﷺ, while the opinions of the companions are usually not mentioned.

Tirmidhi's method was that of placing the heading first, then mentioning one or two Ahadith which were related to the heading. These Ahadith are followed by his opinion as to the status of the Hadith. Subsequently, he mentions the opinions of the different jurists. He also indicates if there were other narrations transmitted by other companions on the same subject. His principal aim was to discuss the legal opinions of early jurists. Tirmidhi mostly mentioned those Ahadith which the jurists used as the basis for their legal decisions and he mentioned which school used which tradition/s. Hence this book became an important source for the different view-points of the various legal schools. The Jami' thus bears the distinction of being one of the oldest texts dealing with the difference of opinion amongst the various jurisprudential schools. Although Shafi'i (b. 150-d.204 A.H.) wrote his Kitab al-Umm before Tirmidhi's Jami', the Kitab al-Umm is less comprehensive in comparison to the Jami' of Tirmidhi.

Islamic Book ||| Sunan Abu Dawood

Biography
Abu Dawud was born in Sistan, eastern Iran (then-Persia) and died in 889 in Basra. Most of the Scholars believe he was born in Baluchistan now part of Pakistan (In Khuzdar or Kalat District of Baluchistan) and later moved to Khorasan. Widely traveled among scholars of hadith, he went to Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Hijaz, Tihamah, Khurasan, Nishapur, and Marv among other places in order to collect hadith. He was primarily interested in jurisprudence, and as a result his collection focused largely on legal hadith. Out of about 500,000 hadith, he chose 4,800 for inclusion in his work.
School of thought and Quotes
Imam Abu Dawud was a follower of Hanbali although some have consider him Shafi.

From this book of mine four (4) Hadith are sufficient for an intelligent and insightful person. They are:
*Deeds are to be judged only by intentions.
*Part of a man's good observance of Islam is that he leaves alone that which does not concern him.
*None of you can be a believer unless you love for your brother that which you love for yourself.
The permitted (halal) is clear, and the forbidden (haram) is clear, between these two are doubtful matters. Whosoever abstains from these doubtful matters has saved his religion.
Works
He wrote some 21 books in total. Some of the most prominent are:
Sunan Abu Dāwūd, containing some 4,800 hadith, is his principal work. These are usually numbered after the edition of Muhammad Muhyi al-Din `Abd al-Hamid (Cairo: Matba`at Mustafa Muhammad, 1354/1935), where 5,274 are distinguished. He indicated that all the hadith in his collection were authenticated (sahih) unless specifically marked as unauthenticated (ḍaʿīf). Some Islamic scholars (such as Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani) believe a number of the unmarked ones to be ḍaʿīf as well.
In another work, Kitab al-Marāsīl, he lists 600 mursal hadith which, after extensive background investigation, he concludes are nonetheless sahih.

Risālat Abu Dāwūd ilā Ahli Makkah; his letter to the inhabitants of Makkah describing his Sunan Abu Dāwūd.

Islamic Book ||| Sahih Muwatta Imam Malik

Muwatta Imam Malik-English Translate

Description

Imam Malik composed the Muwatta’ over a period of forty years to represent the “well-trodden path” of the people of Madina. Its name also means that it is the book that is “many times agreed upon”— about whose contents the people of Madinah were unanimously agreed—and that is made easy and facilitated”. Its high standing is such that people of every school of fiqh and all of the imams of hadith scholarship agree upon its authenticity. Imam Shafi’i said, “There is not on the face of the earth—& after the Book of ALLAH—a book & which is more sahih than the book of Malik.” Shah Wali ALLAH Dihlawi (1114-1176 AH) said, “My breast expanded and I became certain that the Muwatta’ is the most sahih book to be found on the earth after the Book of ALLAH.”

Islamic Book ||| Sahih Muslim

Sahih Muslim-Arabic English Volume

Collection

The collector of the Sahih Muslim, Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj, was born into a Persian family in 204 AH (817/18 CE) in Nishapur (in modern-day Iran) and died in 261 AH (874/75 CE) in the city of his birth. He traveled widely to gather his collection of ahadith (plural of hadith), including to areas now in Iraq, the Arabian Peninsula, Syria and Egypt.

Out of 300,000 hadith which he evaluated, approximately 4,000 were extracted for inclusion into his collection based on stringent acceptance criteria. Each report in his collection was checked and the veracity of the chain of reporters was painstakingly established.Sunni Muslims consider it the second most authentic hadith collection, after Sahih al-Bukhari. Sahih Muslim is divided into 43 books, containing a total of 7190 narrations. However, it is important to realize that Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj never claimed to collect all authentic traditions as his goal was to collect only traditions that all Muslims should agree on about accuracy.

According to Munthiri, there are a total of 2,200 hadiths (without repetition) in Sahih Muslim. According to Muhammad Amin, there are 1,400 authentic hadiths that are reported in other books, mainly the six major hadith collections.

Islamic Book ||| Sahih Al Bukhari

English The Translation Of The Meanings Of Summarized Sahih Al Bukhari

In Imam Bukhari's 'Al-Jami-al-Sahih' (Sahih Al Bukhari) the Imam had recorded all the Sayings of the Prophet which he found to be genuine after thorough examination and scrutiny. He spent sixteen years in research and examined more than sixty thousand Sayings from which he selected some 7,275 Sayings whose genuineness and accuracy he established beyond the slightest doubt. Deducting duplicates, the Imam's collection contain about four thousand distinct Sayings. The text used for this Summary is based on Imam Zayn al-Din Ahmad ibn Ahmad al-Sharji al-Zubaydi (d. 893) the author of the abridged Sahih al-Bukhari [al-Tajrid al-Sarih].

Islamic Book ||| Islamic Activity Book For Kids

Islamic Activity Book For Kids

Vol 2

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

It gives me great pleasure to write a few words regarding the latest addition of the Islamic Activity Book. Allah says in the Quraan "We sent every messenger with the language of his people so that he may explain to them (in clear manner)" Therefore, the language of explanation should be one which is clear and easy to understand. The Islamic books that are intended for children and available in bookshops, are either too heavy for children's age or they are unable to fulfill the need of today's children. Islamic Activity Book is interesting, informative, character building and a very helpful tool in nurturing our young ones to be better Muslims. It is my humble and sincere dua that Allah accept the hard work put into its preparation by the authors, make the book a source of guidance for our offspring, reward the writers and grant them the ability to expand their work and present the much needed interesting presentation to oncoming generations. Ameen

(Sheikh) Abdul Rahim
 Senior lecturer of Hadith
Darul uloom Bury

May Allah accept all the efforts made by brothers and sisters, across the World, who contributed to compiling and publishing this book. May Allah elevate the rank and knowledge of all the parents, teachers and children who take benefit from this book. Ameen

Islamic Book ||| The Journey to ALLAH

Bukhari records on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (Raji.)that the Prophet  said, Your actions alone will not save any of you. They asked, Messenger of ALLAH, not even you?', He replied, Not even me, unless, ALLAH were to envelop me in His mercy. Be firm; steadfast and balanced; and journey in the beginning of the day, the end of the day, and a portion of the latter part of the night. Moderation, moderation! Through this you will attain your goal! He also recorded this hadith in another place with the wording, 'This religion is easy, none makes it hard upon himself except that it overwhelms him; therefore be firm, steadfast, and balanced; upon which have glad tidings! Seek help in this by journeying at the beginning of the day, at the end of the day, and a portion of the latter part of night.
